Modelling Portfolio - Monique in the Studio - Vintage Fashion + Sporty Style

Great teamwork makes for great pictures; we made these shots for Monique's modelling portfolio in a single half day shoot. Kaori worked her hair and make-up magic on the various looks from sports lifestyle to high fashion and, one of my favourites; Monique in the white Tee Shirt (classic model look) vibing the iconic Brigitte Bardot! We carried that feel through too; to the white knit dress high fashion shots - Monique, her Mum, myself & Kaori all having a fab fun time.

Marina - Studio Model Test

This was my last Model Test for 2010 shot between Christmas and New Years. I met Marina a few weeks ago at a friends, she hails from NYC & has been working in finance there but wants to give modelling another go, as she had done in her mid teens. Although now living in NY she is originally from Latvia of Russian background, ah that great Slavic bone structure! We put together a few looks, simple/casual to start off and then something a bit more sophisticated. I also had the new fabric background to work with. I have been after a coarse weave, textured background for a while and now we have have one!

I asked our Make Up artist Yenn to 'Go Crazy' for the final shots and we (yes I did have some input too) came up with a bold asymmetric look for the eyes which I really love. Thanks Yenn. 2010 was a blast & I am looking forward to making lots a great new work in 2011. Happy New Year everyone.

A little Summer story we shot at The Photo Studio last October. Although I managed to put some shots up on my web site I seem to have forgotten to blog the story as well. Our model was Neada from Platform, H&MU by Kaori, styling by Lucinda Petroeschevsky - Mayer.













French Lingerie meets tailored shorts, halter neck tops, body suits and Boyfriend Jacket. We used a mixture of daylight and studio lighting to create a contemporary fashion feeling.

Model Test, Anna Z @ Scene in Sydney

A very simple studio & location model test. Anna did her own hair & make-up. The gown is by Anna's friend Anna Shin.











I am quite keen on doing these simple tests as time allows in 2010. Its great to just try out ideas, poses and techniques without needing to put together a big team. And the shots still look great! 

Hoàng Khánh Ngọc, Fashion Photography Studio Test.

A while back I received a Facebook message from a friend saying that he had given my phone number to a Vietnamese model; that she would be in Sydney soon, and she would contact me…

Cool I thought, and then forgot all about it…

But I did get a call from Hoàng Khánh Ngọc in late March. She dropped by the studio with some very cool tear sheets to show me at which time I found she was 181cm, 5' 11 1/2" tall, Miss Vietnam in 2004 and quite a glamorous model. After a bit of a chat we decided to organise a studio shoot to put some new Australian Fashion Photography work in her book.

For the styling I called up the very talented Seed of Scarlet designer, Fiorella Castro to see if I could borrow a few of the outfits from the new SoS range we shot earlier this year. I chose a few of my favourites from the Look-Book shoot and we were good to go.











Make Up was by Jessica Beazley and Hair by Emma Neilson, it was our first time working together and they did a great job. I decided to continue on with the theme of ‘Studio as Location’ looking for a more open studio feel. After the first couple of shots we veered of into ‘Frankie’s Nightclub’ mode, the shot at the top of the page and finished with the very lovely Layered Orange Maxi Dress in a wild Sphinx like shot.
