When you have the privilege of photographing Couture Lingerie for Harlette; when it comes to blogging the pictures.. well it's one of those times I really wish the pictures on this blog were
a LOT bigger. But then the size of the post would be somewhat-over-the-top and out-of-control! Not to worry, you can certainly still enjoy the fine art feeling and details of these Couture pieces. One of the biggest surprises for me, yes I
was surprised.. is how well these images are printing as small 6" x 4" postcard mailers from the Epson Inkjet when printing on the 310gsm Canson - Etching Rag paper. The images are crisp and radiant and the reason behind the title of this blog post; having been told a number of times after showing the prints, 'these shots
are an exhibition, just do it'. So here are some of my favourites including
the Couture Northern Lights Housecoat worn by Billie Piper in Secret Diary of a Call Girl
and Lara Stone for ID magazine. Mouse over pictures for details.
All the images were made using a somewhat exotic lighting set-up based around two vintage STROBE
Swimming Pool heads, one fitted with a second diffusion box as the light table and the other head cantilevered over the top (picture below). What I love about using the STROBE is it's unique light quality; each head is fitted with 5 x 5 foot long flash tubes that fire for a very short duration producing very even and clean light. There is nothing else quite like it. What's next? Well it would be great to be commissioned to shoot some editorials for some magazines, lovely full page 'fine art' flat lays, now that would be nice!
If you would like to own a fine art print of any of the pieces above - OR if you would like to see your fashion range looking like this, please feel free to drop me a line,
