Dreams of Modelling Do Come True

Many young people dream of being a model. The excitement and thrill of fashion, all those clothes, of photoshoots, special places and meeting new people. I does seem very glamorous and it really can be. Of course like many things, the reality is possibly, not always quite what one expects. I can however say that nearly every portfolio photoshoot I have done, and certainly those in recent years; that everyone enjoys themselves. The relaxed atmosphere, the fun of dressing up, the location and the theatre of a photoshoot. Even if you turn up worrying about what it will be like, how to pose.. You need not worry! Before you know it you will be modelling just like you always knew you could.  Yes I'm there helping out by giving you directions but I work with you, your personality, your mood, the you I see there in front of my camera and I get on with  capturing those wonderful moments.

Natalie's photoshoot was just like that. Exciting, but pretty laid back. Just Natalie's mum, and myself, on location; well and the other people enjoying the beautiful park. (if you are very nervous.. I recommend a studio photoshoot). Nat's an early teen so we dispensed with a make-up artist and went with the true beauty of youth. Yes you are beautiful! Well mum did apply a little lip balm. That was it, a brush and a comb. A pretty white dress, some active wear, a blue dress, a blue one piece swim-club style swimsuit and a pink cap. Oh, and a hat to go with those boots, I do love that shot! I help with the styling from the clothes you bring along, and we normally have a talk about outfits by phone a couple of days beforehand to be sure we are ready on the day. Well I love all these pictures and Natalie and her Mum did too. Once you have the edited pictures – which I send you in two sizes, print size + email/web sharing size that you can send to the modelling agency  of your dreams. And dreams do come true. Teen Modelling Portfolio - Look Out World - Here I Come.

When is the best time to do your modelling portfolio, when you are ready of course and the studio is the best place for it. Why the studio? Well as I sit here typing away I have one eye out the window looking at the weather; how will this afternoons location shoot go? Hopefully no rain! Of course this is never a problem when you choose to shoot in the studio, and it is very convenient if it is your first ever photoshoot; as this one was for Sonali. All these shots and the comp card below are part of her/my Look Out World - Here I come - Pro Modelling Portfolio package. We had a great time working through her five looks with wonderful hair and make-up by Emily-Rose. These photo shoots take about four hours in total and our H&MU artist is on set the whole time to make changes to the hair and make-up and for touch ups as we go. Now that's a true Professional photo shoot!

Maddy's fab modelling portfolio - with lots of shots!

All these shots are from just one portfolio shoot with Maddy. The package was the 'Here I Come – Pro Modelling Package'  which includes shooting 5 looks, 7 finals and a comp card. But as you can see we came up with a lot more shots than that! Yes it can be hard to choose when you have such a good range and quality of shoots but that's a great position to be in! Better too many of those killer shots than too few. And here they are, a mix of Maddy's selections and my own.
Along with Hair and Make-Up artist Kaori we were able to put together a range of looks and styles for the comp card that feel like they were made on different shoots when in fact they were all made in the space of about four hours. Maddy has worked for years as a child and then young teen model; we wanted to keep the smiling happy Maddy but also to create a new older and sexier Maddison too! Yes we were all a bit tired by the end, its quite demanding work; but we were all very pleased with the results as you can see.

Rachael; Teen Modelling Portfolio

I am always happy to take a call from a mum or model or for that matter anyone who is wondering how to go about organising their first modelling portfolio or photo shoot. On this occasion it was Rachael's mum Wendy who had a few questions about how it works and what the cost of my various modelling portfolio packages were; studio location and availability.
That's how it usually begins, (some research on the part of a parent or model) then a phone call and a conversation; and quite often I am pleased to say a booking. We did this shoot last month, Rachael and Wendy brought plenty of outfits and shoes for us to style the shoot with; we shot 3-4 looks and headshots along the way. Kaori did a wonderful job with the hair and make-up adding to the different look and feel of the pictures we needed for a successful folio shoot.

How did we go? Well we all think it went pretty well and you can see the results below which I believe are just right and age appropriate for a mid teen portfolio shoot.
