How does all this happen? Well it usually starts with a phone call, an email or even a text message about being interested in creating a modelling portfolio. In this case it was Emma's mum who made first contact, and it is not usual at all to have a mum or dad get in contact, looking for more information and details about my
portfolio packages. Read more after the picture.
Once a package and dates are decided the next step is to talk about the styling of the shoot, the various 'looks' we will be going for. Firstly I try to find out
who is the person I will be photographing; what are they into, are they sporty, do they dance, are they big into fashion? The photoshoot will be either 3 or 5 looks so I ask the model/sitter to organise their looks so we can go over them by phone a couple of days out from the shoot. It's during this pre-photoshoot conversation that I am able to tell if they will need to bring more shoes/pants/swimwear/accessories etc or if we are good to go. From there we simply meet at the studio or location and make our pictures. But that of course is not the end, the final pictures need to be selected and edited. This is not always an easy task; especially if it's your first photoshoot, and for many it is. I am always available to help with this process and providing guidance in making the best selection. A modelling portfolio is your C.V. and business card all rolled into one and I am there for you to help you make the most of it. The start of your modelling career.
Here's the review Emma's mum Ali left on my
Facebook page here - "Following a recommendation from a contact made through the Billy Blue Design College, my 19 year old daughter and I were recently recommended to check out Kent Johnson Photography to get some photos together to help kick off a career in modeling. The whole experience from start to finish was extremely professional and but at the same time with a very personal touch. Kent spent a lot of time with us discussing the options and getting to know a bit about her so that he could get a good story going through the photos. We decided on the 4 hour studio photo shoot and were not disappointed! We spent an amazing and really enjoyable few hours at Studio 501 working through different looks and outfits with Kent and Emily, the hair and makeup artist, and came out of it with some stunning photos and a great comp card!! Many thanks again."
